The UAE’s Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has officially announced the public sector holidays for Eid Al Fitr 2025. The holiday break will begin on Shawwal 1 and will continue until Shawwal 3, 1446 AH. This means that if Eid falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, the Eid holidays will continue until Tuesday, April 1, 2025, providing government employees with a four-day break to celebrate Eid ul Fitr, one of the most significant Islamic festivals of the year. However if Eid falls on Monday, April 1, 2025, public sector employees can expect a five-day break until Wednesday, April 3, 2025.

The exact dates of Eid Al Fitr depend on the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. According to astronomical calculations, Eid is expected to fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025, but the official date will be confirmed by the relevant authorities on the 29th of Ramadan i.e. Saturday, March 29 after sunset.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will announce the holidays separately for those in the private sector. In previous years, private sector holidays have typically been in line with public sector holidays, allowing most residents to enjoy a similar break. However, the final decision will be communicated through official government channels.

Eid Al Fitr, is one of the most anticipated Islamic holidays, marking the conclusion of Ramadan. It is a time of reflection, gratitude, and celebration, bringing families and communities together to share festive meals, exchange gifts, and engage in charitable activities. Muslims begin their Eid day with Eid prayers at mosques or designated prayer grounds, followed by visits to relatives and loved ones.

With a long weekend ahead, many UAE residents take the opportunity to travel or enjoy local attractions. Popular staycation spots in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah often see an influx of visitors. Others use the holiday as a chance to reconnect with family, prepare special meals, and engage in cultural traditions.
