3 Questions to Ask Your Car Shipping Company

If you are moving to another place, we know you probably don’t want to leave your baby behind. This is why moving time also means that it is time to look at car shipping companies in Abu Dhabi, who can move your car to your new home. Choosing the right car shipping company can be a highly confusing and exasperating task, which is why we feel that it is important for you to know exactly what to ask them. This is going to help you in making a more informed decision when choosing from the various Abu Dhabi based car shipping companies.

  1. Which services are included in the quote?

If you’re comparing the quotes given by different Abu Dhabi based car shipping companies, you may be tempted to make a beeline for the one that costs you the least. Before you do this, however, take a little time to find out what you’re going to get for the price you’re paying. While one shipping company may promise to get the job done for a lower price, it may also only offer port-to-port service. On the other hand, another shipping company may charge you a higher price, but may also provide its own car carrier truck and designated car containers, in addition to door-to-door service.

Most car shipping companies in Abu Dhabi will be happy to provide you with a breakdown of the total expected cost, so you know exactly what you’re paying for. If you want to get an approximate breakdown of the cost of shipping your car from the UAE to Europe, check out our informative infographic here.

  1. Is it possible for you to specify the pick-up time and drop-off time?

Ideally, you should be able to specify when you want your car to be picked up and when you want it to be dropped off to its new home. Why, you ask? Well, if you’re shipping your car off to a new place, you wouldn’t want the car to reach there before you and have no one to receive it and take it home safely, would you? Plus if you can’t specify the drop-off time and the car gets to the new destination before you, you will also have to make prior arrangements for car storage.

  1. Are there any vehicle protection services?

Before you sign a contract with any car shipping company, make sure you ask them about any extra coverage they provide for your ride under their own liability policy. While transport insurance may already be included in the quote, some Abu Dhabi based car shipping companies charge an additional amount for transport insurance. In case of the latter, if you’re unsure whether you’re willing to pay the extra premium for coverage, think of this: during shipping, your car stands to face various risks, such as theft, fire, ship sinking, piracy and any damages that occur during handling. Carry out a short cost benefit analysis for yourself – how much do you stand to lose potentially? In most cases, we see customers ready to put up with the extra premium because of the peace of mind it offers to them.

ServiceMarket lists the most professional and reliable Abu Dhabi based car shipping companies (which you can check out here), who can make sure that your ride reaches its new home without any extra hassle for you. After comparing their services and prices, you can also go through customer reviews to make sure you’re making the right choice.

Good morning, i want to ship my car and my bike from Mozambique to Dubai, my car is from 2005. Is there any restrictions on the age of the car to be imported?
Could i get a company name that deals with all the documents related to the import of the car in Dubai.
Is there any paperwork required before putting the car in the container in Mozambique?

    thanks

      Hi Jose,

Good morning. Please submit a request for quotes on our website to get multiple quotes from shipping companies. These companies would be able to answer any questions you have about moving your car and bike, and will talk you through all the required documentation. There are no restrictions on the age of the car to be imported, but your car would have to pass a vehicle inspection test in Dubai to make sure that it is roadworthy.

      Thanks,
      Emilene

Moving from Qatar to Dubai and wondering whether to either 1) sell my 3 years old car and buy a new one there or ship it there, 2) Do all the exporting paperwork and drive it there myself (exporting paperwork seems to be more trouble than the actual driving) or 3) have a moving company get it there for me.
In the 3rd option, do any car moving companies also arrange the export paperwork or do I still have to do it myself?

      Hi Nikos,

I would recommend that you submit a request for quotes on our website. You will then be contacted by multiple shipping companies with quotes and they will be able to advise you on what paperwork is required to move your car to Dubai. Note that to move the car to Dubai, you will need a residency visa here. If you would prefer to drive the car yourself, then these companies may also be able to take care of the paperwork for a fee. If you need any additional help with this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – we’d be more than happy to help you.

      Thanks,
      Emilene

Do you have to own your car for a certain time in Qatar before you ship it? And do you have to ship it to your home country or can you ship it to a friend in another country?

      Hi Andrea,

You would be able to ship your car irrespective of how long you have owned it – there are no restrictions based on this. However, depending on which country you are shipping your car to, you may have to pay higher duties if you have owned the car for a short time period (e.g. under 6 months). You can also send the car to your friend, however, you would need to transfer the ownership of the car into their name.

Hope this is helpful. I would recommend putting in a request for quotes on ServiceMarket for this – simply enter your details and multiple shipping companies will contact you with quotes. They would also be able to answer any further questions you have.

      Thanks,
      Emilene
