India remains the top relocation destination for UAE expatriates, accounting for 21% of all international moving requests on ServiceMarket. This dominance is fueled by a combination of economic growth, affordable living, and family ties back home. Many Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are relocating back for improved career prospects and to enjoy a better quality of life at lower costs, solidifying India’s position as a favored relocation choice.

The United Kingdom, with 10% of the moves, continues to be popular for those pursuing higher education, stable job markets, and long-term residency opportunities. Its appeal remains strong despite global economic shifts.

Saudi Arabia has gained traction in 2025, rising to 7% of requests. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, infrastructure expansion, and a growing private sector are turning it into a promising destination for job seekers and investors alike.

Lebanon also saw notable movement, accounting for 5% of moves, driven largely by return migration and reuniting with family, despite ongoing economic challenges.

The United States, once a top-tier relocation choice, now represents just 4% of requests. This reflects a continuing decline in demand, with many UAE residents reconsidering the once-coveted “American Dream” due to visa uncertainty, cost of living, and shifting perceptions.

Australia remains desirable, offering economic stability and attractive immigration pathways. Regional moves to Oman, Qatar, and Egypt together comprise a growing share of migrations (each around 2%). These shifts reflect regional mobility trends, where cultural familiarity, proximity, and lower relocation costs make these countries practical choices. Pakistan, also around 2%, has replaced Canada in the top 10 list this year. This is mostly due to Pakistanis being the second largest nationality of expats in the UAE. The appeal of being closer to family and lower living expenses make Pakistan a more practical and emotionally compelling option for many.

Cost of Shipping

The cost of shipping to another country depends on several factors, including the volume or weight of your belongings, the distance to your destination, as well as the type of relocation service you choose. Door-to-door services are more expensive than door-to-port and port-to-port services, but with the former option, you won’t have to pack everything yourself or deal with paperwork at customs.

Insider International Moving Tips and Considerations

Hire Accredited International Movers

To avoid hassles, delays, and hidden costs, and make sure that your belongings reach their destination in good condition, be sure to hire an accredited company. The most important accreditation is FIDI, but there are also other accreditations such as the International Association of Movers (IAM), the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA), the Canadian Association of Movers (CAM), the British Association of Removers (BAR), and International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Invest in Transit Insurance

Do not skimp on transit insurance when shipping your goods to another country. It is unlikely that your goods will be damaged or lost if you hire FIDI-accredited international movers and packers, but you still should not take any risks and keep your belongings protected during transit. It is also a great way to make the process of moving less stressful and have peace of mind.

Sell, Donate and Discard

Before you start requesting quotes from international movers, make sure you have sorted through all of your belongings to get rid of unnecessary items. Keep in mind that the cost of shipping also depends on the size and weight of your belongings, so you should sell, donate or discard anything that you can easily buy after reaching your destination, e.g., furniture, appliances, etc.

Consider Groupage Shipping

You can cut down the cost of moving by opting for groupage shipping. While this option will help you save a significant amount of money, keep in mind that you will have to share the container with others and wait for it to be full. You should definitely consider groupage shipping for smaller moves if you are not pressed for time.

The Power of Comparison Shopping

Besides helping you save a lot of money, comparison shopping also makes it easier for you to find the most suitable international movers and packers. Be sure to get free quotes from multiple international moving companies and compare them not just in terms of cost, but also the services they are offering.
