In a recent survey conducted by QIC Insured in partnership with RoadSafetyUAE, almost half (49%) of participating UAE drivers stated that the roads have become more dangerous over the past six months. QIC Insured partnered with ServiceMarket to stress the importance of driving safely and to show you how safe driving can actually save you money.
Driving safely means you are less likely to have car accidents and file car insurance claims, but it can also get you save you a lot of money. Here’s how:
1. Bad driving habits result in fines – and fines are set to increase later this year!
In a bid to reduce poor driving on the roads, the RTA have announced a series of new traffic laws, with some fines amounts quadrupling! Starting from July, drivers will be fined AED 400 for each passenger who is not wearing their seat belt, and AED 400 for each child under the age of four who are not securely seated in child seats. A number of parking and driving fines will also increase. For example, the fine for using a mobile phone while driving will go up from AED 200 to AED 800, in addition to 4 black points!
2. You can save up 20% on your car insurance with a no claims certificate
Yes, you heard right. Car insurance companies are well aware that people who have a record of driving safely are less likely to cause accidents, and hence are lower risk customers to insure. If you can prove that you have not had any claims in the UAE over a set number of years, you’re likely to get your car insurance at a lower cost, potentially saving up to 20% on your premium. QIC Insured offers better rates, and in some cases better coverage, for customers who can prove an accident-free driving record.
These financial incentives and disincentives are just some of the reasons why safe driving matters. Don’t put yourself and your family in danger by driving badly. Be a safe driver, and the next time your car is up for renewal, get in touch with QIC Insured to save money on your car insurance.
