Green Pass on Al Hosn App Compulsory For Abu Dhabi Residents

green pass abu dhabi

Ever since the pandemic started, Abu Dhabi has been introducing new rules around the moving of individuals about the city, modifying them as the pandemic progresses. Now that most of the people in the UAE are vaccinated, new rules have been set to ensure everyone is safe from the coronavirus.

On Wednesday, June 9, Abu Dhabi authorities announced that all residents must have a “green pass” on their Al Hosn app to visit public places. This will apply to all 16 and above from Tuesday, June 15.

What is the Green Pass?

Most of us already have the Al Hosn app installed which contains all of our information; from the latest PCR test results to the vaccination dose information, everything is available on the app.

Your Al Hosn app will show one of three colors: green, grey, or red. All 3 colors are based on your PCR test results and vaccination status.

Green: the following six scenarios make you eligible for a green pass.

-It has been at least 28 days that you have had your vaccination done. In this case, your negative PCR test will grant you a green pass for 30 days.

-It has been less than 28 days that you have had your vaccination done. In this case, your negative PCR test will grant you a green pass for 14 days.

-You have only had your first dose of vaccination done. In this case, your negative PCR test will grant you a green pass for 7 days.

-It has been more than 48 days that you have had your first dose of vaccination done and you haven’t had the second dose yet. In this case, your negative PCR test will only give you a green pass for 3 days.

-You fall in the category of people exempted from taking the vaccine. In this case, your negative PCR test will grant you a green pass for 7 days.

-You have not had your vaccination yet even though you fall in the category of people eligible for getting the vaccine. In this case, your negative PCR test will grant you a green pass for only 3 days.

Grey: yourPCR validity has ended.

Red: you have a positive PCR test result.

So even if you have had your vaccination done, the PCR test result will be the deciding factor to whether you can visit public places or not.

While we may have to frequently get our PCR tests done in Abu Dhabi, the presence of rules like these will ensure our safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Abu Dhabi authorities are doing their best to ensure all of us can go about our normal lives without posing the risk of infecting each other with the COVID-19 virus.
